Local PubThe Derby Arms, Witherslack
They have a dining room and a dog-friendly pub area. Recommended in the Michelin Pub Guide for 2011 and won the ‘Pub of the Season‘ award, for winter, from CAMRA. A relaxing atmosphere and a great place to be regardless of the weather.

The LakesWindermere and Consiton Water
The serene waters of Windermere are only a 15 minute drive away via the A590 where you can take in the stunning views along the east side of the lake up to Bowness, Troutbeck, Ambleside and beyond. Coniston Water is within easy reach where you can continue on to see The Old Man of Coniston, rising dramatically behind the houses when seen from the village centre.

The ForestsGrizedale
Situated between the lakes of Coniston and Windermere, Grizedale Forest is an ideal place to go walking, with views of the lakes and mountains, the shelter of the trees and sculptures in the forest. Grizedale Forest is also a fantastic place for biking. The North Face single track route gives experienced mountain bikers an adrenaline rush while the forest roads and bridleways have a range of safe, off-road routes for different abilities. Horse RacingCartmel Racecourse
Against the backdrop of the beautiful English Lake District, Cartmel Races rekindles the spirit of the original steeplechases. Large crowds descend on the centre of the racecourse for picnics and parties while the horses race around the outside.
